| Integrity within Government Our government has been truly tested in its integrity. All of the issues that leadership addresses must be able to stand on the integrity of its government. Fuel Prices - Energy Conservation Our nation is truly facing a crisis. We must act quickly and decisively if we are to bring any kind of relief to the people and our country.
Resource Development - ANWR Development of this incredible natural resource is urgently needed. The State of Alaska needs to be given control of this project and the land. The state constitution guarantees this right of its land to its citizens. Alaskans should be able to benefit from the development of its own land. [State of Alaska Constitution] Environmental Conservation I believe that we need to be good stewards of our land, but we must be able to use its resources. Environmentalists believe that the we were made for the world. Conservationalists believe that the world was made for us. We must encourage responsible development over the land and its resources. Employment/Business The costs of running a business in our nation are out of control and need serious revision. Required permits, unemployment insurance, workers compensation, and liability expenses (just to mention a few), are so high and restrictive that doing business, let alone starting one, are near to impossible. Our country was built on free enterprise, yet the ability to make a profit or bring home any reasonable provision has become a distant dream for most. US Constitution Our constitution guarantees the people certain inalienable rights, without infringement. The 2nd Amendment is an important part of those rights and I will continue to support and defend its continued presence. [Link to US Constitution] Government Spending We know that government is overspending. According to the US Controller, in order for our government to become debt free, every individual would need to pay close to $75,000, and each family $475,000. Government assets should also be evaluated for potential release for sale to ease the national debt. The Federal Government needs to return its focus from the State level to the National level. Taxation In order to boost our economy, taxes against the people should be lowered. This will increase monetary flow into business, create higher demand, and higher employment rates. Thereby strengthening and empowering our work force and our nation. Immigration/Border Control Benefits to illegal aliens must be denied. National focus must return to insuring the rights of legal US Citizens to health care and jobs. Border Patrol policies and law enforcement must be reviewed and supported. War in Iraq Give a deadline to the Iraqi government to assume complete control of their country. This will empower them to be motivated in this necessary shift in leadership. Without media headlining the removal of our troops, there needs to be an efficient and orderly withdrawal as the Iraqi military is shifted into place through the direction of their leaders and government. Education Yes, I believe prayer should be allowed in public schools. Our children need serious help, and the statistics speak for themselves. Since 1962 when prayer was removed, the rise in teen pregnancy, STD’s, drop outs, drug use, and kids shooting kids has risen out of control to the detriment of our society today. Local governments need to be empowered to give parents and teachers more authority within the school system. Right to Life I unconditionally support the rights of the unborn child from conception through birth and beyond. The same inalienable rights exist for the unborn as well as the living; life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, no matter what their physical or mental condition is before, or after birth. I pledge to do all within my power to support and encourage laws and bills in the US Senate that protect the rights of the unborn. [National Right to Life, Republican National Coalition for Life] |
